Hating Children part 2

NO my title isn't true!!!  But go back and read my last post to know what I am talking about :)

Leviticus 18:21
“‘Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molek, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.

So I have looked up "children" in the Bible Gateway....Children is mentioned 459 times!!!  I would say the Lord thought a lot about children!!  In the above scripture God was talking to His people saying don't sacrifice your children to this god.  So we know that there were other gods that required child sacrifice.  Now although to us we would say how disgusting that sounds to us.......I think our society does this - just in other ways.

We sacrifice our children every time we would rather take that phone with us.....text, facebook, email, or talk with others on the phone while we are eating dinner with our children- OUCH!!!!  How about when we tell our kids....yeah I will read to you in a minute.....and 45 minutes later after we got done instant chatting with our friends....and it's already time for bed- POW in the face!  How about how we put our kids in every event known to man because we think they need "other things" more than they need us?  Slap!  Or when we are too tired to discipline because we have had a long day and we can't take it anymore so we yell at our kids, do nothing, or ignore their bad behaviors.....oye!!!  AND YES, I am preaching to myself!!!!
Leviticus 26:22
I will send wild animals against you, and they will rob you of your children, destroy your cattle and make you so few in number that your roads will be deserted.

CHILDREN are and were heritage!!!!  They were jewels just as much as money was passed down.  The heritage of children is passed down too!!!  If you were robbed of your children it was WORSE than being robbed of your money.  THEY ARE A LIVING BREATHING PART OF GOD!!!  Worth more than ANY other treasure on Earth!!!!  It is considered a bad thing to become sooo few- and yet in our society it seems the game is - 2 kids OR LESS please.  And if you still think over population is true - please go see this.
Deuteronomy 4:40Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the LORD your God gives you for all time.

Deuteronomy 5:29
Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!

What a JOY to keep HIS commands and pass them on to your children as a SPIRITUAL HERITAGE :)  So that it will go well with you and you may live long!!!!!  That is not a joke.  That my friends is a promise!
 Deuteronomy 6:7
Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Talk about God's MIRACLES including LIFE as you rise and as you walk along, throughout your days!!!  In our home we talk A LOT about the fact that ALL LIFE is precious!!  Theirs, children with no families, children that have nothing to eat, children with disabilities, how can we help them, what should we be doing, how can we do more....let me tell you if you have never been convicted of doing more by your children- you should try having conversations about the above.  They will put it in simple plain terms that will shoot you straight in the heart!!
Deuteronomy 7:4
for they will turn your children away from following me to serve other gods, and the LORD’s anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you.

OUCH this one....this one is a fear of most ALL parents I know......that the world would turn our children's hearts away from following Christ.  It is sooo hard.  This is a burden parents carry.......we have to work together to turn our children towards the LORD.   To trust and do the best we can.  Sometimes that means making life changes that seem strange to the world, but let's face it- our world is already strange :)
Luke 23: 26 As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus. 27 A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. 28 Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ 30 Then    “‘they will say to the mountains, “Fall on us!”
and to the hills, “Cover us!”’[b]
31 For if people do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

This was mentioned in a comment on the last post.  A foretelling of the age to come.  It is interesting reading these words........just some food for thought.

Another comment was - if I am on a date night with my husband I don't want to be around kids.  I can see that in a way, not saying that it is wrong.  I guess I am not a person who thinks that if I am out on a date with my husband that I don't want to be around children.  Maybe it is just me?   In fact really obnoxious children don't really bother me either- why?  I guess because it isn't my problem at that time!!  :)  Just my outlook I guess.

And my other thoughts- there are plenty of places to go where you don't have to really see many children.  Let's face it more expensive restaurants tend not to have many children, but places like Chick-fil-A, the zoo, etc.  tend to have a lot more kids around.  There are ways around being around a lot of kids if you want.  And remember- we are not just talking restaurants here- they are now banning children from grocery stores, airlines, etc.  This is A LOT bigger than a date night I am afraid.....and I pray it doesn't spiral out of control!

I will be addressing some of the other comments.....and some more scripture as I look into more of what the Scripture says on children.....  :)  Pray this will give you food for thought.......

  1. Great post, wow really made me think!

  2. When I go out on a date with just my husband, I don't mind the children in the tables around us even if they are screaming. I've been there and no how they feel and it makes me even more grateful that mine aren't there at that moment :) But then again, I just love kids :)

  3. I have never heard of banning children from planes, grocery stores, restaurants. Can you link to some articles or something. Sounds pretty crazy to me.

    :) :) :)

  4. As I'm setting here at the computer taking a deep breath after a "teen" moment (smile)...I can still say a hearty "AMEN!". I meant to comment on your last post, but (as you well know) craziness happens. Our society has been devaluing children for a long time. A preemie being born at 26 weeks can be fought for, but if someone doesn't want it, it can be aborted in utero.

When I get to go on a date night, I go to enjoy my relationship (and nurture it) with my husband. It doesn't mean I don't want kids around, but that I want my husband to have my full attention...our relationship to have my full attention.

Thank you for writing this. Well said...ALL CHILDREN ARE A BLESSING...EVERY SINGLE ONE (even teens...hee hee...and I can say that because I LOVE the teen years!).

  5. LOVE it!!! Thanks for putting your heart out there. I am in total agreement with you, sister!
